As of dbFront 1.2.0.0343 you can allow regular users to switch to their own custom layout and switch back as necessary.
The "My Layout" button will bring up a highly simplified table preferences dialog where they can adjust the main table layout and all of the columns on the table grid and the detail form. They can even adjust the search columns and the default sort order.
The custom layout will remain unique to that user and will follow them wherever they login to dbFront.
Users can edit their preferences by clicking on the small gear icon at the top of the form.
