We are a little unclear on what the regular expression does. Would this not have an effect on the field that this regular express is used on? It seems regardless of what regular expression we use it does not have any impact on the contents of the field. It would be helpful if this could be explained in a couple of examples as those regular expressions might also differ in their interpretation.
